Who is responsible

This website

This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking, runs no scripts and has no forms.

It is delivered by Cloudflare, which keeps standard request logs - such as your IP address, the time and the page requested - to deliver the website and keep it secure. If Cloudflare has to check that a visitor is not automated, it may set a strictly necessary security cookie of its own.

Your WS Suite account

A WS Suite account holds:

• your email address, and whether you have confirmed it;
• your password, stored only as a one-way hash and never in readable form;
• a display name, if you gave one when you signed up;
• your sign-in settings, such as whether signing in also needs a code we email you;
• the products and licences you hold, and how you got each one - for example a purchase, a subscription or a licence key;
• your sign-in sessions: for each, the app or browser that signed in, and for the Launcher the computer's digest described below;
• the one-time codes and links we email to confirm your address, a sign-in or a password reset, stored only as one-way hashes;
• notes our support staff make when they help you.

If you sign in to your account in a web browser, a strictly necessary cookie keeps you signed in.

Licences and computer activation

The WS Suite Launcher activates your licences on the computer you work on. It identifies that computer to us by a digest calculated on the computer itself: no serial number, MAC address or other hardware identifier is sent to us.

With that digest we store:

• the computer's name as its settings give it - which often includes your name - its operating system and version, and when it last checked a licence;
• which product and which editing program each activation is for, and when it was activated, renewed, moved or released;
• for each copy of a plugin on it, a fingerprint of that copy's key, so a licence works only where it was issued.

The licence files the Launcher writes are kept on your computer.

Activity records

We keep a record of what happens on your account: sign-ins, password and security changes, each licence check, activations, moves to another computer and releases, downloads - the product, its version, the operating system and the type of processor - licence keys redeemed, and orders. It protects your account and your licences, and helps us when you contact us. A failed sign-in is recorded with the email address that was typed, also when no account has it, so that misuse can be seen.

When the Launcher or a browser talks to the WS Suite service, our hosting provider's logs record its IP address, the time and the address requested, to run the service and keep it secure.

The plugins

Easy Guides does not contact our servers. It reads the licence file the Launcher keeps on your computer. No project, sequence, clip, file name or piece of media is sent to us or stored by us.

Payments

When you buy a WS Suite product, Stripe, our payment provider, takes the payment on its own pages and collects there what it needs, such as your billing address for tax. We give Stripe your email address, your account's reference and your display name, if you gave one.

Of each payment we keep its amount and currency, the email address used, Stripe's references for it, its receipt link, any refund, and where you bought - the website or the Launcher; of a subscription, its status and period. We never receive your full card number, and we keep no card details.

Contact by email

When you write to contact@wssuite.com, we use your email address and what you write to answer you. Account emails - confirming your address, sign-in codes, password resets and changes, and notices when your licences move or a computer is removed - are sent through our email provider.

Why we use it

• To provide your account, your licences and the software you have acquired: our contract with you (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
• To keep WS Suite and your licences secure and to prevent misuse: our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)).
• To keep the accounting records the law requires: a legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c)).

Who processes it for us

We use service providers who process personal data on our behalf, under data processing agreements:

• Cloudflare, which delivers this website and the files the Launcher downloads;
• Railway, which hosts the WS Suite service and its logs;
• Neon, which hosts its database;
• Stripe, which handles payments;
• Resend, which sends account emails.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell or rent personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not share it with advertisers.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. To have your account deleted, write to contact@wssuite.com: we then delete your personal data, except records the law requires us to keep - accounting records are kept for five years, as the Norwegian Bookkeeping Act requires.

Your rights

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you, and receive a copy;
• have it corrected if it is wrong;
• have it deleted;
• restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it;
• receive it in a portable format;
• withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on your consent.

To use any of these rights, write to contact@wssuite.com. We answer within one month. You can also complain to Datatilsynet, the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with its date.
